Plantation of Agarwood
Agarwood is an endangered plant species in the world. Aquilaria sinensis ( ¤g¨I» ) is a kind of Agarwood which can be found in southern China, especially Hong Kong is now becoming one of the very best remaining healthy wild-grown Aquilaria sinensis populations.

The climate and environment in Hong Kong is well suited for growing of agarwood because the sub-tropical weather provides agarwood with plenty of sunshine, water, and relatively high humidity as needed by the plants. In addition, the soils in Hong Kong's country sides have required nutrients for agarwood.

The plantation of agarwood is simple which has the following steps:

1. Sowing seeds on soils in autumn, then cultivate the seedlings until they grow up to 0.5 ¡V 0.8m in height.

2. Relocating and planting the seedlings on any farm land of hillside at lower sea level. Plants have to be separated at least 2mx1.5m from each other.

3. Under the sub-tropical climate, plants will grow on their own without manual watering and fertilizing.

4. When infected with virus by insects and plants will fight against the virus via secreting resins. The process goes on and on, and plants turn into agarwood after 15-20 years time.
